Feb 3, 2014 --- I just restored 2 model CD-8 Rockola cd Bubblers. One of them is a model CD8-B made in 2000 & the other is a CD8-x made around 1996? The CD8-x is a HOME USE ONLY CD BUBBLER - 1 owner that was not played very much. Both of these CD BUBBLERS will be uploaded in a day or so. CD Bubbler version of the most popular Jukebox of All-Time the '1946 WURLITZER model 1015' also known as 'THE BUBBLER'.
Comes with (8) bubbler tubes & (4) rotating barber pole lights in the 4 main plastic pilasters. Puts out a beautiful color show. The original 1015 had (8) bubble tubes but only (2) barber pole lights.
This Bubbler was made Jan 18, 1999. Fully functional & plays/sounds great. Holds 100 cd's or cdr's (will not play mp3 data discs).
Cabinet is Walnut Veneer stained Early American Walnut & the front door is Curly Maple Veneer stained light Maple.
Casting are real metal/trim pieces that have been triple chromed plated. Unlike the Wurlitzer OMT that has plastic/chromed trim pieces. Chrome on this Bubbler is MINT!
All in All the early model CD8-B model Bubbler (w/orange components like this one) in my opinion is a great choice for that game-room. As model years get newer many features of the cabinet were downgraded mostly to cut costs. In 2005 the quality of veneer was changed and the curly maple front door is not very curly any more. In late 2003 electrical components were smaller (yellow components), this effected amplifier/power supply life span as compared to the orange colored components which in my opinion last longer.
During restoration: Really this was not a full restoration as all I did was re-finish the 2 cabinet sides/top along with the bottom pilaster walnut bottom caps. Rockola originally did not finish these 2 areas very well. The front door has the original finish that still has excellent luster, so I just polished the front door. The CD proplayer is 14yrs old so I did have it rebuilt by AB Jukebox (info about A&B is on my jukebox link page). Near brand new condition & a 1 owner home use only bubbler. Original owner told me they never could figure out how to MAP/Program the CD's so they only used it as a night light.
Of course it never had any commercial use. If you're looking for a brand new bubbler, buy this near new BUBBLER & save over buying brand new.
